4. Observation on Teacher(s)
1.1 Planning for teaching
Teacher always learning the material
before she will teaching, choose the best tehnique to teach them, provides
picture or improved thing to give example for them, preparing lesson plan based
on K-12 Curriculum guide and teachers manual, sometimes if she need showing
powerpoint, she will bring projector from office.
1.2 Preparing lessons and
material
The lesson plan is ready for the first
day of class. It must be a day to day planning. The teacher did not make the
lesson planning for a week inorder for her to know if the lesson must reteach
or move All the materials to use in the lesson is made ahead of time. And the
teacher do it at home.
In making the materials the teacher
makes sure that it will suite to the level of the learners. It must be colorful
and visible that can be seen even the last person sittedat the back. Since the
teacher is handling grade one level, the materials to be use in teaching must
be attractive.
1.3 Teaching in class
Before all pupils entrance the class,
pupils always singing and says their promise routine, after that teacher nich
ask them to reading a book to waiting all pupils, after that teacher nich give
the stimulation about lesson today, give the materials, using media to give
example, pupils always attractive to answer the questions, because sometime
teacher nich give prize/reward for them but out of prize, and sometime teacher
make a group so they have many activities, and the pupils really want to answer
the question, because teacher nich always ask them, and when their friend
answer, they would like to answer too, and teacher always give praise to them,
when they’re understand, teacher will give assignment as 5 question for them,
and they will write in their book, when they have done, they will collecting to
teacher, and teacher will give the score in their book.
1.4 Measurement and
Evaluation
Evaluation : In grade 1, teacher nich
will give summative test every friday, the purpose is to know the increasing of
pupils, and every quarter the teacher will give report to the parents, the name
of report card is 138, and every quarter, teacher will arrange rank of pupils,
so the teacher know pupils who have great intelligence, perfect attendance and
will announcement at event.
Measurement in grade 1 is : pupils
can’t next to grade 2 if they can’t reading and writting, and if pupils can’t
reading and writting until they’re at 9 years old, so teacher will calling
their parent and discussing it.
5. Teaching Practice
1.1 Procedures of teaching
First, the
pupils in grade 1 always starting the lesson with praying, singing, and
greeting, after that I going to teach them, first material about clock
(half-hour), so I ask to them, what time they coming to the school ? they
answer : at 6.00 a.m teacher mega,wow it’s so early. Very good
Second, I ask
again, how many hour in 1 day ? 24 hours, and how many minutes in 1 hour ? 60
minutes. So if half-hour, how many minutes ? 30 minutes teacher mega.
Third, I showing
the clock toy to them, I explain clock have 2 hands, short hand and long hand,
short hand shows “hour” and long hand shows “minutes”. And they’re understand.
Fouth, I
showing short hand at 3, and long hand at 6, so what time is it ? pupils answer
3:30 teacher mega, yes correct. Very good
Fifth, I ask
pupils to make a group, 1 group consist of 4 students (1 table) and I give one
toy clock every group, after that, I ask them to show time 12:30, I give 20
second to discussing, and when I said one two three, they will show up their
toy clock, several of them answer correct.
Sixth, after
they’re understand, I give task to them, only 5 questions, the instruction is :
Draw the clock in your book with correct hand. The question is : a). 3:30 ,
b).11:30 c).7:30, d) 8:30, e).1:30
Seventh, I
give 1 hour to them finishing the task, after finish, I will check one by one or
pupils will collecting the task to me and I’ll give the score.
1.2
Time management and
organizing activities
Time

Activities
|
07.00

Open the lesson with greeting, praying, and singing
|
07.10
|
Starting the lesson with asking student about material

|
07.20

goes to school at 6.00 o’clock, and after 30 minutes she arrives, so what time
anna arrive in the school ?
- I
ask them ‘would you like to answer ?’
- Student
come in front of and I give toy clock to
him, and he show the time, first he pull short hand pointing at 6, and he pull
long hand ponting at 6, so 6:30 minutes or six pass half hour.
- I
ask to them’ why important we learning about time’?
- Some
of pupils answer ‘no come late to the school’
- Yes
correct, what else ?
- They’re
Silent, and I give the answer

I will handle the class for 2 hours, after that when I already finish, class
will be handle by teacher nich again.
6. Summary and
Suggestions
1.1 Purposes of practicum
After I joining
SEA-teacher event and I going to Philippines, I know about several habit in
Philippines, like general transportation is jeepney, motorela, and time to
entrance the school is 6:00 o’clock (so early), and exactly, after practicum, I
know about :
§ Principle in teaching, based on my observation several
teacher in south city central, one of them can handle all pupils, and one of
them can’t handle all pupils, I think the reason is : first impression, technique teaching pupils, and deliver the lesson.
§ How to get the student’s attention to participating the lesson, to the first time I teaching
them, I bring candy and I will give candy to pupils can answer my question or
participating the lesson, so their friends will attractive also, and I can
deliver the lesson easily.
§ How to choose the method in teaching, when I teach
mathematics and english, sometime I will using projector, improvised things
like toys clock (mathematics), picture (english), video. So they will
understand what topics that I teach for them.
§ How to develop the lesson, when the pupils participate
with me, I always ask them to “would you like to come infront of?”, and several
of them raising the hand, and of course I will indicate them, and I also
indicate pupils who not raising the hand, so all of them can be participate in
my demoteaching.

The challenges of
practicum
Actually, my first challenges
is Pupils grade 1 is kindest, so when I came to their class, they’re very good
to me, they hug me and we take picture together, but when teacher nich gone,
and they’re very noisy, I told to them, “ Silent Please”, but they’re not
listen to me, I’m shocked, Oh maybe they’re not listen to me because I’m very
kind to them, so they think I am their friends not the teacher, after that I
changes my face, I ask with teacher nich, why they’re not listen to me when I
told them to quiet. And teacher nich give me suggestion “Mega, you don’t really
kind to them, you must give border to them, when you inside the class you’re
teacher, but if you outside the class you can make friendship with them,so they
can respect of you”.
Okay, I see. And tomorrow I change my
rules, I will be professional teacher from now. So one by one they’re listen to
me, and I’m happy. And I teaching them 2 subject (mathematics and english).
I teaching in grade 1, and many of them
can’t speaking english, and they talking to me in besaya (mother tongue), so I
don’t understand, I always said Yes for them. And sometime I ask with teacher
nich about besaya languange.
1.5
Overall impression
I always

things that I can share to Indonesia, specially in education system here, in
South city central has commitment to teaching their pupils and deliver their
pupils to be better future.
Here
description about my overall impression :
